Description
A remarkable true tale of oppression, resistance and love
As war rages in Ukraine and a genocide goes unchecked in Palestine, Adeeb Shaheen offers a unique perspective, and a stark warning: Unless we hold those in power to account, everything and everyone we love is in danger.
Born in Palestine, then witnessing the Israeli occupation of his hometown Nablus in 1967 as a nine-year old child, Adeeb’s life was subject to arbitrary arrest and casual violence. Fleeing his birth place, Adeeb found himself in eastern Ukraine where he built a new life and a new home – until 2022 when Russian tanks rolled down the streets of his town. Once again he was forced to flee, taking with him his family and what few possessions would fit in the car.
Eventually arriving in Nottingham, UK, Adeeb begins to once again build a new life but he cannot and does not want to escape his past. Soon he is drawn into local campaigns in support of Palestinian and Ukrainian peoples, where he begins to tell his story to individuals, then to casual groups, and then to crowds. Finding a new purpose in warning, educating, and inspiring the next generation, Adeeb begins to write.
